SS4 Modding

I'm just happy to tell community that modding on SS4 will be possible. Just have a look with this test:

Is it a model + texture ? An how come? Thaught they still locked their stuff for their own DLCs and such.
Which file formats and measures are used here?

Models use TGA files for textures so that's easy to make you own camo. But as I can see, we can modify sounds and ambiance too.

Trying to import new models will be difficult without specific modding tools. With SS4 excellent graphic, we can have fun on making maps and specific scenario or campaign. :wink:

OK, thanks for your findings so far. Sounds interesting.
And is any special compression needed for these tga files?
Would you mind to send me a random tga file, so I can check it myself?

But unfortunately, if Kites Games/Kalypso don't change their minds, it would not have that massive impact, cause if you control 20 vanilla units or 20 good looking casquebleu units.... 20 units are still only 20 units -.-

Well, SS4 isn't perfect yet, that's sure. But we should have editor with the game so, I presume mappers would have the opportunities to change everything (i read that devteam is still working on MP as community said MP wasn't TOP).

Let's be patient and see what' s going on ...

Does anyone know how scenario building and scripting will work in SS4? Will it be easier then the previous versions?

We can't answer right now, all we know is that this game uses Unity Engine. Maybe you can search with that clue :wink:

Can you tell if the mod/scenario making tool will be released during launch?

We don t have any news about modding tools, Dev team said they were looking for making tutorials, and maybe videos ... crossfingers :)
