Seelow heights
Seelow heights
Hi.. I've got another map in the pipeline. The map is more or less done.. the script is progessing rapidly also. It's going to be a 'simple' hold-ground game so I don't expect the script is going to be mighty long, 100 script lines should suffice I guess, most of which will be dedicated to randomness in enemy attacks.
ANYWAY , heres some screens:
The Oder plain at the foot of the heights has been flooded, turning the terrain into a pool of mud.
Burning tank on the autobahn near Seelow.
Soviet infantry attack the last line of defense before the heights, soviet t-34 can be seen struggling with mud and anti-tank ditches. Panzergraben will trap enemy tanks every now and then.. which isnt very realistic, but I guess it's not going to be any fun when all enemy tanks end up getting stuck. Also mud will impede on armoured traffic.. sometimes causing it to fall behind on attack waves, leaving infantry without armoured support.
Artillery emplacements on the heights itself will hammer down on enemy attack waves. Artillery is intended to play a crucial role, thinning out soviet wave attacks.
The town of Seelow provides the germans will a last stand when the main defenses are overrun. Armour will be very limited, although capable! I know there were no Jagdtigers at Seelow but who cares
The Seelow Heights furnish the player with an excellent defensive disposition, providing both sight and barrier.

Re: Seelow heights
Beta.. full mission. Probably needs some tweaking for balance but at least I enjoyed it. If you don't like defense maps, don't bother.. although recaps of lost positions are possible ofcourse!!
BTW.. positions are designated arbitrarily with numbers, e.g 1, 2 or 3.. the order is from the southwest to the north east..but i guess this is pretty obvious from the game.
Hope you enjoy it!
If there are any bugs, please let me know.

Re: Seelow heights
Another beautiful map again! I need more time to play them all because the few minutes i got for RWM everyday i´m working on my berlin-map.
Re: Seelow heights
Ah well.. wel'll probably still be playing sudden strike in our retirement homes many years from now anyways.. so theres enough time I'm sure
It's not a very time consuming game btw.
It's sort of a snack type of game.. 3 hours at most. It's supposed to be replayable as the enemy will attack differently with every restart or even reload of the game.
But anyway, please finish your Berlin map first! I'm mostly playing my own maps these days which is kind of sad
Btw, Sterna:
Copy/paste is the key to fast map building

Re: Seelow heights
Yeah of course but you must handle this with caution otherwise the maps will look too generic.nevux hat geschrieben:

I also make use of copy/paste stuff especially when using woods and large fields also with textures ect...!

Re: Seelow heights
New version available. Both map and mission have been updated. Gameplay now also includes enemy artillery (guns/katy), aircraft and possible reinforcements. Overall, a more expansive and hopefully more compelling rendition of the previous release.
