- run game via "game\rwm.bat" or "rwm.exe" here in the folder, this version have no Switcher
- based on unfinished "RWM 8.0 v4 preview" from Tijn, not all new things are working (units, buildings..)
- use prefix for new or updated maps - "[v4]" instead of "[RWM8.0 beta#]"

Schemes
-------
- most used scheme in beta3 is "RWM Eastfront Summer". In v4 it's under name "RWM Summer 1943-45".
"RWM Summer 1939-42" uses the same game objects, only the camouflage of some units is different.

In short - RWM development has slowly stopped after years and multiplayer community wanted new stuff in the game. Then we asked Tijn for unfinished RWM 8.0 v4, he sent it to us. It was month ago. So far we did various fixes + added few new units. Now it's in test phase.

1) Is there anybody (esp. singleplayer map makers) who would like to participate in testing?

What is needed:
- experience with the game, history here on forum
- time for testing in next 7 - 14 days max
- reasonable feedback in english language

2) If you have any wishes to improve RWM (easy to implement) or you know some bugs, write it here please
- related to RWM, not game engine.. military9

I doubt that after the testing phase, someone from us will be involved in further RWM development.

I would be happy to test RWM BETA4 and look for bugs, let me know if i can help
especially concerning , the soldiers in houses , and different types of buildings like trenches
sometimes they are bugged like in BETA3 for example soldiers in trenches can be invincible to incoming fire

also its worth mentioning unit names
sometimes they are to long for the display box ,
and maybe change the elite Russian units, for me they are called gwardec strelok, and gwardec kaptin
they are in English Russian , so it makes no sense
perhaps they should be renamed to something like NVKD Rifleman, and NVKD Captin

also if the mod is for multiplayer only, why not consider removing French units

Furthermore there are some units you could potentially add
Marines or naval infantry , it would make sense because the Russian marines took part at Odessa Kerch and Sevastopol

Soviet sapper army - these units sometimes used the PPD41 and wore sort of body armour they took part in sieges of fortified defences and they have never been in any mod. they are also know as shock troops

The concept for names of units has been to use the names in the appropriate language. So russian units in russian, british and american units in english, french units in french etc.

Regarding the french units: RWM has always been MP-oriented, but I think it has never been considered to be MP only. Quite the contrary, Barbarossa has always expressed his delight when new SP maps were delivered. So the french units should stay in RWM, at least for SP and by now also for backward compatibility.

Gareth is right. Right now there is no point remove anything from beta3 and lose backward compatibility. It would be good in case of total mod remake, change/remove unused and ugly stuff (map objects, roads, bridges), make order in DESC/parameters, proper file names, unify everything. But no one will do such large amount of work for small community. Anyway French units are part of the mod, they should stay in all cases.

About unit names, there is only problem that in map editor it shows ingame names (original transcription) instead of editor names (their english version). No idea why.
It's not done completely correctly, names are defined in the unit parameters instead of references to another file where they should be stored.
Furthermore there are some units you could potentially add Marines or naval infantry , it would make sense because the Russian marines took part at Odessa Kerch and Sevastopol
Sailor/marines are added already, you can check changelog.

Probably there is no graphics for them in other mods (I will look at it) and nobody will make new graphics.

Yes this stuff is bugged, esp. in beta3 winter scheme. We have nobody with knowledge about damage system and building parameters, unfortunately it can't be fixed. About testing, I will send you link if others will agree (you're new here).

let me know if anything comes of the mod, it seems your doing a good job so keep it up :D

I also thought about it. No graphics for partisans, but maybe 1 men with rifle and one with smg can be added as OTHER to cover those partisans or another resistance units in various countries

Huh, what's that? Prototypes, not used vehicles during ww2 (IS-3) and post ww2 vehicles are out of original RWM concept

I agree yes RWM is realistic so no protoypes, i had no idea that the skoda t34 was post war sorry
Regarding the IS3 it is actually not post war it was made in 1944 and did see action but only in south manchuria

Some bugs i found in RWM BETA3

Flamethrowers - they seem to kill everyone inside the tank immediately witch is unrealistic
in real life the British used flamethrowers against armour. however the only vulnerable part of the tank
is the rear where the engine compartment is, a flamethrower could set the engine on fire effectively stopping the tank.
This is the same for smaller flamethrowers like the Flamenwerfer 35 or the ROKS that are not that powerful
But that doesn't mean that all the crew should just die within 5 seconds, it should disable the tank.
Whereas the crocodile and bigger flamethrowers alike should be able to kill the crew

88mm cannons
I had one situation where i had 3 T34s engaging some infantry , one troop jumps on the gun and immediately destroys a tank followed by another despite being blown up and machine gunned.

mortars should kill tank crew of the M18 nashorn wespe hummel and SU76 easier because they have no roof
speaking of the SU76 SMG gunners from experience can kill everyone inside the SPG from behind somehow including the driver who is in a completely armoured compartment and not in the back

The Haftmine - very effective against tanks but if SMG gunners are close to tanks they just stand still instead of trying to get close like the other AT units such as the flamethrowers or panzerfaust, im not sure though

Planes - still the persisting glitch where they cant take off or land if given multiple orders while airborne

Trucks - sometimes they glitch and continuously unload the same troop repeatedly and drag him back in

what happened to the SG43? im sure it is in HS2

regarding the invincible houses and trenches perhaps implement a morale thing
for example they are the only person within a certain area and morale starts to drop when there outnumbered 10 to 1

because a medic and a machingunner in a trench
survived - 4 panthers 2 tigers , 60 infantry PZIV for too long i played over 60+ mods and the original game in every mod buildings always ruin missions if units dont die because it seems like absolute rubbish and takes away from the realism
I believe that in sudden strike 2 houses were balanced perfectly, as wooden houses just get destroyed like in real life instead of taking ages to break and also there was no trenches witch caused bad map design and glitches
im not saying remove them but if you could please fix this as it ruins some of the single missions like
schlact um narva where a trench doesn't die and then artillery is constantly called in until it dies

however this problem is in every other mod
modern warfare also, i had to destroy a trench
the best way?
parachute directly on to it and force my 30 men inside just to overrun it only 2 survived
because apparently modern tanks apcs and jets still have the trench glitch and cant kill it

i think the best way to fix this problem would be to remove them, but that might cause comparability issues
however it remains the most annoying bug with mods to date i hope you can fix it

This is a problem with the SS-engine, not a mod - it’s everywhere!
You just need to properly cntrol airplanes in the air and not exceed the maximum number of teams.

The behavior of the aircraft can be “programmed” on the ground: you can assign three (maximum) attack points and nine route points through the “shift” in any sequence. Cancel cancels all actions, but does not release the already used number of commands. When exceeded, the aircraft will “freeze” in the air, and its parking will be blocked. Of course, it can be put on another airfield, but the parking lock at the same time, as a rule, is not removed.
In addition, in the absence of a task (if they have already been deleted), when you press the cancel button, the plane will simply disappear.
That is why when controlling an airplane in the air, I highly recommend using only the “cancel last job” button.
