because after many years playing on 2D isometric view are not easy to jump on the 3D, in exchange 3d give you other opportunities, like view and fire ranges,
in start I am sure, jump on SS3 can be very hard for old SS player, and event if they are same Developer the logic are totally new and we need time to adapt our control and view on it!
in this case we can use more higher view of the battlefield, in exchange we decrease the dimension of our army, in some case we can found our army not enough to covert the field even we double units than before.
only time can help us to make our style conversion and adapt our game control on it.
after testing SS3 in all other games (2D or 3D) i try to use my 'MOUSE ROLLER'
more a player are VETERAN under Ss series, more hard is the conversion.
