Madmax223 - Unternehmen Merkur - Battle of Crete 1941
I just quit playing RWM to take part in this great new adeventure of WWM mod and already started my, ever wanted, favourite mission down from scratch.
Here are first screenshots of the map, I haven't started scripting yet. The map will beas accurate as I can make it compared to actual Crete, the mission itself will be oriented on the actual battle.
I will post updates from time to time.
What is already done:
Malemes( including town of Malemes, Hill 107, Tavronitits Bridge, the RAF tents, the airfield), Chania(town and airfield) and it surroundings, Souda and the Souda Bay. I'm now working on the western edge of the island, icluding the town of Kastelli.

Basic overview and update.
Re: Unternehmen Merkur - Battle of Crete 1941
Excellent work Max. Already looking superb.
Re: Unternehmen Merkur - Battle of Crete 1941
Daily update...
General information on the mission:
Naturally we'll play on german side, trying to conquer the island. I'll try to be as accurate as I can be in terms of using heavy weapons and tanks.
E.g the use of tanks...Allied armour consisted of nine Matilda IIA infantry tanks, belonging to "B" Squadron, 7th Royal Tank Regiment, and sixteen Mark VIB Light Tanks from "C" Squadron, 4th Queen's Own Hussars. So Brits will have only 25 tanks at all compared to 2xPz II for Germany since day 5 of the battle and 13 L3/35 light tanks of the Italian expeditionary force arriving on May 27th.
So it will be mostly Infantry fighting and you will have to rely heavily on your superior Fallschirmjager fighting skills to survive against the british superiority.
As is it was in the real battle, capturing the airfields is the key to success. Without them, you wont receive reinforcements by 5.Gebirgsdivison by air. Reinforcements by sea will only arrive if you are able to beat the Royal Navy by using the Italian Navy and the Luftwaffe air superiority. All this as accurate as I can be...I guarantee, it'll be a lot of fun, trying to break the encirclement by the Royal Navy with "LUPO" and "SAGITTARIO"...try google these names
That's all for today

Re: Unternehmen Merkur - Battle of Crete 1941
German Fallschirmjaegers landing with DFS 230 near the Tavronitis Bridge in order to capture it....
First attempt to capture the airfield and hill 107, but the attack is repelled by heavy mortar and artillery fire...
About halfway done +/- 5%

Max,
Du kommst sehr gut vorran aber ich finde die Felder im verhältnis zur Insel zu groß geraten. Bau mehr Wildniss ein !
Ansonsten Hut ab, bin schon sehr gespannt auf dass Endergebnis !
